Pulo Kemaro
Once upon a
time there was a princess who lived in Palembang. Her name was Siti Fatimah. She
was a daughter of king Sriwijaya Kingdom. She was beautiful. She had good behavior. There were many boys who liked her but not braved to say
it because Siti’s parents wanted Siti to married with a rich prince.
One day,
a prince came from China. His name was Tan Bun Ann. He wanted
commerce and lived in Palembang
for several time. As new comer Tan Bun Ann went to king of Sriwijaya to say what Tan
Bun Ann mean.
“King, my name is Tan Bun Ann. I’m a prince
from China. I want to commerce and lived for several time in Palembang. Please
give me permission about it.”, said Tan Bun Ann
“Yes, Tan Bun Ann. But you must give a half of your profit for
Sriwijaya Kingdom.”, answered The King.
“Thank you, King. Yes, once a week I will give
a half of my profit for Sriwijaya Kingdom.”, said Tan Bun Ann.
At one moment, Tan Bun Ann met Siti Fatimah. He
fell in love
with Siti Fatimah. Siti Fatimah fell in love too with Tan Bun Ann. In process
of time, they had love relationship. Tan Bun Ann wanted married with Siti Fatimah. Therefore, he went
to king of Sriwijaya
to propose marriage to Siti Fatimah.
“King, I’m sorry. I come here because I want
propose marriage to Siti Fatimah. I want to married with Siti Fatimah.”, said
Tan Bun Ann.
The King of Sriwijaya thought for a few minutes. He thought that Tan Bun Ann was a rich prince from China.
“Allright, Tan Bun Ann. I will blessing you married with Siti Fatimah by one
requisite.”, said The King.
“What is that, King?”, asked Tan Bun Ann.
“You must prepare 9 gold porcelains.”, answered The King.
“Well, King. I will fill the requisite.”, said
Tan Bun Ann.
Then, Tan Bun Ann sent out envoy to deliver
message for his parents in China. Not long time, the envoy came back to
Palembang and carried message from Tan Bun Ann’s parents. They said blessing
with a plan Tan Bun Ann to married Siti Fatimah. They said sorry too because
couldn’t come in the marriage ceremony. But, they sent 9 gold porcelains to fill the requisite.
Tan Bun Ann’s parents lined the gold porcelain with sawi vegetable without gave
notice Tan Bun Ann. They had a mind in order that the porcelain could safe from
sea rover.
When Tan Bun Ann knew the envoy group came back, he with Siti
Fatimah’s family and lady in waiting came to quay on lower course of Musi. He
asked to his envoy for indicate the gold porcelains.
“We save the porcelains in ship room, Sir.”,
said the envoy by indicated ship room.
After the envoy took the porcelains from ship
room, Tan Bun Ann inspected the porcelain immediately. He was
suprised that the porcelains only contained sawi
vegetables
which had
decay.
“Oh my God. How very abash me to my parent-in-law candidate. They will
feel trifiling
about this decay commodity.”, he said with disappointed.
Tan Bun Ann inspected the other porcelains.
But, all of them contained sawi vegetables which had decay. It made Tan Bun Ann
very disappointed. Then, he threw the porcelains to Musi River without checked
it again. When he want to throw the last of porcelains to Musi River, his foot stubbed until the
porcelain fell and broke. Tan Bun Ann was suprised when he saw the gold flow exit from the
porcelain. His parents saved the gold in under decay sawi vegetable. Tan Bun
Ann with his lady-in-waiting plop down quickly to Musi River to took the
porcelain which contained the gold.
Siti Fatimah saw it. She ran quickly to edge
ship to see condition her husband candidate. She waited her husband candidate.
She very worried. Then, she with her lady-in-waiting plop down to Musi River to
search the prince. Before plop down to river, she gave notice for someone who
were at the ship.
“If you see mound on this edge river, it means
my cemetery.”, that was Siti Fatimah notice.
A few days later from it, on edge of Musi River
appeared mound. The mound had formed become island. It called Pulo Kemaro because the
island never slick water from Musi River although the volume of Musi River
terrace.
